ROSLYN HOWSE

Roslyn worked for 20 years in Gladstone as an environmental scientist prior to moving to Brisbane mid-2012. She had dabbled with many crafts; lead-lighting, mosaicking, lamp-worked beads and glass slumping. Photography had been a passion for over 30 years. Some of these works and photographs had been exhibited at the Gladstone Regional Gallery and Museum.

Roslyn learnt to paint at a Marine Art course at Brisbane Institute of Art conducted by Jane James in 2012 and has been obsessed by painting ever since. Birds have become her favourite subject though seascapes and rocks continue to populate her acrylic paintings. Environment remains the overarching theme. Painting provides a great way to observe closely and better appreciate animals, plants and their ecosystems.

Art Exhibitions

Roslyn has regularly exhibited at Percolator Gallery, Aspire Gallery and the Brisbane Institute of Art since arriving in Brisbane in 2012.

Previously she had exhibited mosaic works, bead sculptures and photographs at the Gladstone Regional Gallery and Museum. Five entries were accepted for the annual Rio Tinto Alcan Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards (2008 to 2016). 

The solo exhibition 'A New Life' at Cedar Galleries (Gladstone) in March 2016 was a great opportunity to display 50 paintings at a venue which had a strong personal history.

In 2016, she also exhibited with Angela Wilson and Glenmary Swan at Aspire Gallery, Brisbane.
